Account manager at SECC's Ticketsoup.com
Although he is a business graduate who has worked in telecoms James
Alexander now spends his days making sure people can see the world's
best musicians, bands and comedians.
Alexander works in the contact centre of Ticketsoup.com arranging tickets for hundreds of events every year.
At the moment he is overseeing the final sales for the Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival which starts next week (March 17).
Ticketsoup.com is the main box office point of contact for nearly 400 shows across forty venues.
It's an account Alexander has worked on for five years and preparation usually starts in the October before the festival begins.
He said: "My working day involves anything from daily liaison with the festival team and associated promoters, dealing with ticketing and box office sales
to working with the SECC marketing team to provide the website content for the festival.
"I really enjoy working on this particular account.
"Year-on-year we have seen an increase in the number of shows and venues, and sales figures are also on the up each year which is great news."
Alexander also manages the box office for numerous events which are part of the Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations.
This involves making sure visitors from across the world receive their tickets while Alexander is often on hand to answer any questions which might come up.
The large scale concert events he has been involved in include Take That, AC/DC, Paul McCartney and Coldplay.
Alexander, who enjoys history and politics away from work, added: "The smaller accounts for events we manage are just as important.
"We pride ourselves in delivering the very best service – whatever the event."
