Continental Airlines has launched a third daily flight from London Heathrow to Newark Liberty, New York.
Continental has discontinued its US services from Gatwick Airport, only offering a summer-only service from Gatwick to Cleveland. In addition to its Heathrow flights, Continental will continue to operate non-stop services to New York Liberty from Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester, as well as Dublin and Shannon.
Private jet operator, Bookajet, is urging business travellers to think about hiring a private jet for business trips during the current economic downturn, citing a saving in the business traveller's most precious commodity: time.
Bookajet managing director Christian Rooney said: "Utilising traditional carriers means you have to work to their preset schedules and this can mean overnight stays in hotels and extra, unnecessary time away from the office - this all adds up and makes private jet travel an attractive and cost effective option."
Uk budget hotelier Travelodge has unveiled a £150m expansion plan for Scotland.
Currently, Travelodge has 30 hotels in the country, but plans to at least double its room number across the nation, taking advantage of the current economic crisis.
Travelodge managing director for property development, Paul Harvey, said: "Scotland is a very important growth market for us, not just in Edinburgh and Glasgow but across the country."
