In brief...: Brits booking for next year

Canny, currency-conscious travellers are booking next year's holidays to try to beat possible euro fluctuations, it was revealed.

Holidays for 2009 are being snapped up as tourists try to avoid further falls in the pound's strength against the euro, according to holiday company Milestones.

Milestones' general manager Matt Clapson said that Spain, Italy and Portugal were still big touring destinations for Britons with travellers unwilling to forego trips there despite the weak pound.
