Budget hotel chain Travelodge has announced plans to build 55 new hotels in seaside resorts to capitalise on increasing numbers of Britons holidaying at home.
The company said it would be spending £150million on developing the new sites. The locations include Blackpool, Weymouth, Newquay, Bournemouth and Scarborough.
The plans come in the wake of official figures showing the number of UK holiday breaks were up 13 per cent in the first quarter of 2008.
