Nearly three in five pre-wedding revellers are choosing overseas destinations for stag or hen parties.

On average, Britons are spending more than £420 a year attending such pre-nuptial celebrations, a survey by Hotels.com found.

Dublin is the top overseas city for stag parties, followed by Barcelona, Amsterdam and Prague.

Of UK stag party spots, London is by far the most popular, followed by Brighton and Edinburgh.

Barcelona heads the list of overseas hen party destinations, followed by Dublin, Paris and Amsterdam.
