In brief...: Celebrating Scotland

Awide-RANGING calendar of events for a festival to celebrate all things Scottish has been unveiled.

Homecoming Scotland 2009 will showcase the country's contribution to the world throughout next year.

Kicking off on the 250th anniversary of national poet Robbie Burns, the festivities will take in more than 100 events across the country.

The festival begins on January 25, and runs until St Andrew's Day on November 30. Among the events are a show at the Clyde Auditorium to celebrate the songs of Burns and a whole whisky month in May.
