Although France is by far the most popular destination among skiers, its prices leave most rival destinations far behind, says a survey of 33 resorts in 14 countries compiled by PriceRunner.co.uk
It says an average family holiday in Meribel now costs a stonking £4,258. If the same family headed for Zelezna Ruda in the Czech Republic, it would save £2,835.
Price Runner says the top three resorts offering value for money are Zelezna Ruda and Harrachov in the Czech Republic, followed by Bled in Slovenia. Seven of the cheapest resorts are in Eastern Europe.
