It isn't just skiers bound for the French Alps who can slash their carbon footprint by taking trains to the slopes.
Michael Birtles, at European Rail, said: "Skiers might ask themselves if low cost flights are as cheap as they look - after adding extras like car parking and taxes - and whether the strains of Gatwick or Stansted are always worth it. Chuck in the delays of security checks, and many skiers see the benefits of trains."
