In brief....: Hotel staff in language bid

The opening of a new hotel is likely to set tongues wagging - foreign tongues that is.

Staff at the newly-opened Heathrow Terminal 5 Travelodge hotel are being offered language lessons.

Staff at the hotel already speak 25 languages between them, including Somalian, Gambian and Arabic.

But the hotel chain is keen to meet the language requirements of its guests who will come from all parts of the globe. The lessons are being conducted on a trial basis. If successful, they will be extended to each of Travelodge's 18 airport hotels.
