In brief...: Chasing the winter sun
Popular winter sun destinations lured more bookings this Christmas and New Year as Britons looked ahead to 2008, according to online travel firm lastminute.com.
Bookings for the seven days starting on Christmas Day were up 18per cent compared to the same period in 2006, and Christmas Day bookings alone soared 15 per cent against 2006 numbers.
Reservations for winter sun destinations such as Egypt, Cape Verde and the Canaries proved popular.
