In brief...: Call to end exploitation

An urgent call to end exploitation at work was made after new research showed there were two million people "trapped" in low-paid, insecure jobs where mistreatment was the norm.

The TUC urged employers, the Government, unions and even consumers to play a part in tackling the problem.

Examples of exploitation included a fast-food employee who had worked for three years without a paid holiday, and migrant domestic staff being underpaid as well as facing sexual violence from their boss.
