Pay is expected to increase by an average of just over three per cent in the UK next year, half the predicted figure for other countries, according to a new report.
A study of 62 countries by consultants Mercer showed that global salaries are expected to rise by 6.1 per cent in 2008 - 1.9 per cent above the rate of inflation.
Some of the highest pay rises will be in India at more than 14 per cent, while most Western European countries will have the lowest salary increases, it is predicted.
