In brief...: First plans new depot

Lambert Smith Hampton acting for BRB (Residuary) has sold a 16-acre site to FirstGroup for £8.7million.

TheCathcart Road plot in Glasgow will be separated by the M74 extension and an underpass created to link each section.

The site was previously a rail container terminal and has lain vacant for almost 20 years.

First plans to relocate the Butterbiggins Bus Depot to the new site and also develop offices.

John Hill, director at Lambert Smith Hampton, said: "We have been involved with this site for over 10 years, initially securing the retail planning permission which added considerable value to our client's land."

Doug Sutherland, chairman of BRB(R), said: "We are delighted at being able to bring this site back into use at a price that represents great value for all concerned."
