In brief...: Builder in £1.8m deal for wards

A£1.8MILLIONcontract to transform two wards at Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow has been awarded to East Kilbride construction firm akp.

Thecompany will transform the McNair House and Rutherford House units at Gartnavel which provide care and treatment for adults suffering from wide ranging mental health difficulties of a severe orenduring nature.

Akp, which recently created the new £6.8million cardio-thoracic unit atthe Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank, will strip out existing electrical and mechanical installations, replace windows and doors and landscape the exterior.

New kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms will also be fitted and new flooring laid throughout.
