Hotel sees £7m revamp

The Roxburghe Hotel on Edinburgh's Charlotte Square is to benefit from a £7.5million makeover.

Under new general manager, Chris Wayne-Wills, the hotel will be refurbished over the next 18 months, to create more than 200 bedrooms and suites, plus a £1.7m redevelopment of the public areas to offer a new restaurant, bars and new conferencing facilities.

Established in the early 1800s and designed by Robert Adam, the Roxburghe is owned by the Paragon Group and managed by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.

Mr Wayne-Wills said: "This is a significant investment which will help to reposition the Roxburghe as one of the top hotels in Edinburgh."

Subject to planning permission, the 300 square metre central atrium will be removed and the entire roof enclosed by glass under the new design.

Wayne-Wills was previously regional general manager of Macdonald Houstoun House, Uphall, and Macdonald Crutherland House, East Kilbride.
