HBG plans 'greenest' building

Work on filling the muddy gap left by the demolition of 29 Wellington Street in Glasgow has begun.

Developers HBG Properties are replacing Apsley House with an office building nearly three times the size of the original.

Hbg, part of Dutch construction giant Royal BAM, sold the building last August to a German property fund managed by IVG. HBG plans to build the new 75,000 sq ft office to the greenest standard possible.

"It's going to be a landmark building for this city and HBG is determined to achieve an excellent BREEAM rating," said Michael Smart of HBG Properties.

Work on 29Wellington Street is due to be completed in Autumn 2009.
