Alex Sanderson and Scott Wallace move into senior roles
KPMG has strengthened its Scottish audit practice with new head of audit and internal audit director apointments.
Alex Sanderson becomes the new head of the firm’s audit practice in Scotland after moving from KPMG’s Gatwick office.
He replaces Lorraine Bennett who is due to take up a post with KPMG’s outsourcing operations in India.
Sanderson has been with KPMG for more than 26 years, which has seen him work in the firms London, Tokyo, Barcelona and North and South America divisions.
He works with multinational and FTSE 100 clients to support their international activities, and was head of the UK firm’s Telecoms sector for four years.
He said: “We pride ourselves on the high quality of our audit process and I look forward to leading our Scottish audit practice in delivering results for our clients in Scotland who can be assured of the quality, integrity and independence of our audit services.
“Auditing and corporate reporting are areas which continually undergo challenges and changes so it is our responsibility to ensure we maintain two-way communication with Scottish businesses in order to overcome those challenges.

Scott Wallace has been appointed as director for Internal audit, risk and compliance, and will be based at KPMG’s Edinburgh offices with responsibility for the firm’s internal audit team across Scotland.
He rejoins KPMG from AEGON and has more than 16 years experience within financial services and corporate sectors, both in the UK and abroad, predominantly in accounting, assurance and risk advisory roles.
Wallace said: “Internal audit is an ever more important function for organisations and plays a key role in ensuring companies meet their increasing challenges in an ever changing legislative and regulatory landscape.
“Our growing internal auditing team has extensive experience conducting internal audit, assurance and risk and compliance assignments supporting our client base across Scotland.”
