Kenneth Barker has joined the board of the Scottish financial services trade body
Baillie Gifford director and partner Kenneth Barker has joined the board of financial services trade body Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE).
Fund manager Barker joined Baillie Gifford in 2001 and is currently director of the firm's institutional clients department with special responsibility for fixed income clients.
Prior to joining Baillie Gifford he was a vice president in JP Morgan’s London office and subsequently head of bond options at Banque Paribas.
Welcoming Barker to the board at SFE’s AGM, Mark Tennant, SFE chairman, said: “Kenneth will be an excellent addition to the team bringing with him a detailed knowledge of the industry and a wealth of experience at one of our most successful asset management firms.
“All of us on the board look forward to working with Kenneth and believe his contribution to our deliberations will be invaluable.”
Barker added: “As a partner at Baillie Gifford I have seen our business become increasingly international with more than half of our funds under management now coming from overseas clients.
“This brings home to me the important role that SFE can play in ensuring that Scotland remains an excellent home for global financial services so that we can grow Scotland’s economy and provide interesting well-paid jobs.
“I look forward to working with the SFE team and the board at a fascinating and challenging time for our country and industry.”
Anne Richards retired from the SFE Board at the AGM having served the maximum six year term.
