In brief...: On-the-job learning for trainees

Law firm Russel and Aitken has taken on a new first-year trainee and decided to retain a second-year trainee.

New recruit Stacey Mow at studied at Napier University then completed her diploma at Dundee.

The 24-year-old's first year will be spent with the commercial and residential conveyancing teams, before a move to the court department in her second year.

Second-year trainee, Claire Gillan, also 24, has been kept on to work in the litigation team servicing both Alloa and Falkirk.

Karen McLachlan, partner with Russel and Aitken, said: "We are proud that we can offer such valuable experience to the next generation of Scottish lawyers.

"We endeavour to involve our trainees in services across the legal spectrum."
