In brief...: Recycling investment saves trees

An accountancy firm has saved 74 trees after investing in professional waste disposal services in 2007.

Geoghegan & Co brought in the east of Scotland branch of Shred-it to overhaul its paper procedures.

Since then it has seen significant gains in the handling of confidential information and opportunities for recycling.

Chris Warner, Geoghegan & Co office manager, said: "As an organisation we realised we should be recycling as much paper waste as possible while ensuring that all confidential waste was destroyed.

"Before Shred-it, we had to spend time separating confidential waste from other material, and disposed of these items in different ways.

"Now all our paper waste can be collected in the Shred-it bins, and we know it will be securely destroyed andrecycled as well."
