Wolfson's ultra-low powered audio platforms will carry new speech recognition technology
Speech technology developer Sensory has teamed up with Wolfson Microelectronics to deliver its TrulyHandsfree Voice Control technology.
California-based Sensory's hands free technology will be carried on mobile devices using Wolfson’s latest ultra-low powered audio platforms.
Sensory said its latest voice control technology will provide the user with voice activation and hands-free voice command operations on mobile devices.
Edinburgh-based Wolfson said advances in speech recognition technology and cloud computing have made voice user interfaces a “must-have”feature in today’s mobile phones.
This latest voice activation technology does not require a touch activation by the user and won't drain battery life like so-called “always on always listening” voice activation technologies.
Rash Sahota, vice president of audio solutions at Wolfson, said: “This technology from Wolfson and Sensory represents a crucial breakthrough in the way that voice control for mobile phones is used, removing the need to activate it through touch and ensuring that it becomes a successful communication solution in real-world situations.”
Bill Teasley, vice president of engineering at Sensory, added: “Sensory and Wolfson have created an unparalleled solution for ultra-low power, high accuracy speech recognition on portable devices.
“Mobile phones can now include voice control, intelligent voice search and utilise voice assistants without the user having to touch the phone or wear down the battery.”
Wolfson will demonstrate the new technology at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month.
