Research in Motion's latest model to hit the market aimed at business executives is the BlackBerry Bold - which is touted as its most upmarket device yet.
It is the first BlackBerry to support tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks around the world and comes with integrated GPS and wifi capability. Its next-generation 624MHz mobile processor is designed to make short work of downloading e-mail attachments, streaming video or displaying web pages. It also includes 128MB flash memory plus 1GB on-board storage memory and an additional memory card slot.
The BlackBerry Bold features the familiar e-mail, phone, messaging and organiser applications, and now users can talk on the phone while sending and receiving e-mail or accessing the web. Word, Excel or Powerpoint documents can be downloaded and edited on the handset using the DataViz Documents to Go software suite.
The device's central trackball works like a computer mouse for easy navigation of web pages. RIM also recently announced an agreement with Microsoft to provide mobile access to Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail on BlackBerry devices utilising push technology.
