In brief...: Size matters for iPhone

Apple has launched a new version of its iPhone which has double the memory of the original device.

The 16GB gadget will cost £329 compared to the existing 8GB iPhone at £269. Its launch comes less than three months after Apple's 8GB iPhone made its UK debut.

Mobile phone operator O2 last week announced an overhaul of its call and text tariffs for the device.

Those revised charges also apply to the new 16GB iPhone.

In addition, the technology giant has unveiled a 32GB model of its iPod touch music player priced at £329.

This will join the 16GB iPod touch priced at £269 and the 8GB model which retails at £199.
