What's new...: Web dial-up on way out

Dial-UP internet connections could virtually die out by the end of the decade, according to a new report.

Only four per cent of residential internet connections will rely on the original form of going online by 2010, according to uSwitch.com's forecast.

Its predictions follow Office for National Statistics figures which showed 88.4 per cent of connections were broadband compared to 86.2 per cent the previous year.
