New central belt distribution centre will support new Scottish store openings this year
CSL Sofas has announced plans to create 100 new jobs in Scotland as part of a wider expansion plan north of the border.
The specialist sofa retailer, which operates 22 stores in England, will open its first Scottish outlet - a 20,000 sq. ft store at the Abbotsinch Retail Park in Paisley – before Easter.
The Warrington-based company is also opening a new distribution centre off the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh to support new store openings, part of an overall £4 million investment to expand into the Scottish market this year.
A site for the new Scottish distribution centre has still to be confirmed.
CSL managing director Jason Tyldesley said: "Our performance has been driven by product innovation and design, and a relentless focus on providing the best customer service in the industry.
"We've increased customer loyalty and driven sales by offering a unique love it or exchange it guarantee which takes the uncertainty out of buying a sofa.
“This has led to more of our customers recommending CSL to their friends and family than ever before.
"The strength of our performance during the last 12 months has given us the confidence to continue our investment and expansion.
“Our big focus is on expansion into Scotland, South East England and building our direct and ecommerce business, which has been a major part of our organic growth during the last year."
CSL Sofas said gross revenues were up 43 per cent last year to £110 million on a “huge increase in direct orders and online business” as well as contributions from three new store openings in Thurrock, Croydon and Hull.
The company reports pre-tax profits for the year to December 31, 2012, rose to £2.5 million from £0.2 million the previous year.
