Contract with Nexen Petroleum for the Golden Eagle Area Development norteast of Aberdeen
Wood Group PSN has secured a new $50 million (£31.2 million) North Sea contract with Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd.
The Wood Group engineering services subsidiary has been contracted on a two-year agreement to carry out the hook-up and commissioning of the Golden Eagle Area Development (GEAD) project in the UK North Sea.
The Golden Eagle field, located 110 kilometres northeast of Aberdeen, will be developed using two platforms – a wellhead platform and a production, utility and living quarters (PUQ) platform – connected by a 70-metre bridge.
Wood Group PSN (WGPSN) will provide management, labour, materials, services and equipment to complete the hook-up and commissioning of these offshore facilities.
WGPSN said it will employ around 100 staff to service the contract from its Aberdeen headquarters.
First production from the field is expected in late 2014.
WGPSN's UK managing director, Dave Stewart, said: “This is a key project for WGPSN and we are very proud to have been selected by Nexen to provide support to one of the most significant offshore developments in the UKCS.
“We will be deploying a high performing management team, familiar with Nexen's assets and processes, who have a track record of developing a positive project work culture that delivers results safely and on time.”
WGPSN now employs more than 8000 people working both onshore and offshore across the UK and around 25,000 people globally.
