Benny Higgins joins the board of the group managing the business interests of the Buccleuch family
Tesco Bank chief executive Benny Higgins has joined the board of the Buccleuch Group as a non-executive director.
Higgins, and Joe Scott Plummer - former chairman of fund manager Martin Currie - are the only two board members at present appointed from outwith the Buccleuch family.
Announcing the appointment the Duke of Buccleuch said his family and the chief executive of Buccleuch Group, John Glen, were delighted Higgins had agreed to join the board.
“Benny’s great breadth of experience, combined with a formidable track record and his familiarity with the Scottish scene in particular will be of huge benefit to our family business as it develops in new directions," the Duke said.
“We are very excited that he is joining us.”
The Buccleuch Group businesses are in commercial property, energy, and hospitality and tourism within its rural estates businesses.
Higgins, a former chief executive of retail banking at Bank of Scotland and Royal Bank of Scotland, joined Tesco Bank in 2008.
