Internal promotion at fish farming firm
The Scottish Salmon Company has promoted its chief operating officer to chief executive.
Dr Stewart McLelland will formally take over from Bill Hazeldean in January.
Hazeldean is leaving to concentrate on Glasgow acquisition vehicle Associated Seafoods, which has snapped up two Scottish businesses in the past year, where he is chairman.
McLelland, who is also involved in Associated Seafoods, was previously managing director at Food Partners Group and the Macrae Food Group and was also in involved in food technology management at Waitrose.
The Scottish Salmon Company said: "This promotion for Stewart
will provide the company with continuity to develop the plans for
strategic growth and fulfil our long term strategy to increase and
balance out our total production volume to around 40,000 tonnes per
annum by 2015/2016.
"The company aims to achieve this through a mixture of organic growth in
current farming facilities, and the new development of virgin sites.
"In addition to farming capacity increases, the company will need to
make significant investments through its value chain infrastructure,
including freshwater and processing."
