HR firm buys ad agency

In brief...

Barkers has been bought by HR consultancy Penna in an £8.6million cash rescue deal.

The advertising and marketing agency was put into administration last week with 100 staff, including dozens in the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, made redundant.

However, all staff still employed, thought to be around 240 across the UK, will be transferred and retained as part of the Penna deal.

Anne Riley, managing director of Penna Creative Communications, said: "Everybody's first priority is to make sure that all Barkers' and TCS clients still get the great standards of service they are used to."
