In brief...: £170m boost for Weir Group
Engineering giant Weir Group is oncourse for operating profits of around £170 million.
The figure was given in an interim management statement for the 13 weeks ending September 26, 2008.
Acompany spokesman said: "The group has continued to perform strongly, with growth in input, revenue and profit, reflecting ongoing demand for our products.
"The group's results also benefited from a positive foreign currency translation effect, most notably from the strengthening of the US dollar against sterling."
