Conditions not golden for H Samuel owners

H SAMUEL and Ernest Jones owners Signet posted a further slide in sales yesterday as the jeweller saw no let-up in tough trading conditions.

Second quarter sales dropped 0.6 per cent in the UK, reversing the 5.3 per cent hike seen in the previous three months.

And a weaker performance in the US dragged overall sales down 4.5 per cent in 12 weeks.

The group have been hiking prices to counter the rising cost of gold.
