In brief...: £3m invested as RSS moves to Livingston

One of Scotland's largest domestic and commercial removals firms has moved to West Lothian after a £3million investment in a new purpose-built facility.

Removals Services Scotland has relocated to Livingston from Granton in Edinburgh on the back of year-on-year growth since the business was established in 1992.

Managing director Iain Wright said: "We have seen an increase in storage due to the fact that people are more likely to sell first, store their belongings and then look for a new property "The new facility has a floor space that is bigger than Livingston FC's football pitch."

In 2007, the business moved more than 1,200 households and the turnover topped £2mfor the first time - an increase of eight per cent on the previous year.

Mr Wright added: "This is the biggest investment in new premises, storage facilities and vehicles to be made by a Scottish removals firm.

"We chose West Lothian because it allowed us to build our own facility, instead of subletting in Edinburgh."
