Sales up 10% to £17.5m on traditional and new gluten-free product ranges
Nairn's Oatcakes Ltd has reported a 10 per cent rise in turnover to £17.5 million as demand increased for its traditional oatcake and new gluten-free products.
In annual accounts filed with Companies House for the year to June 2, 2012, the Edinburgh-based company stated pre-tax profits rose from £1.68 million the previous year to £1.81 million.
Profits rose despite being “heavily impacted” by rising input costs and the firm's ongoing marketing investment in its gluten-free range and its US subsidiary Nairn's Inc.
The company had added 23 more staff by the 2012 year end and now employs 148 people.
Nairn's wage costs rose as a result, from £3.87 million in 2011 to £4.44 million at the 2012 year end.
