New BrewDog bars to open in Sweden and Brazil in the first half of the year
BrewDog has announced plans to expand its craft beer pub chain internationally.
The Fraserburgh-based independent brewer is looking to open bars in its strongest overseas export markets as well as doubling the UK pub chain to 20 venues this year.
BrewDog, which currently has a chain of 10 pubs across the UK, exports its beers to 32 countries globally.
Co-founder James Watt believes the success of BrewDog's UK bar chain can be replicated in the overseas markets.
He said: “We sell more beer outside the UK than here, we are in 32 foreign markets, so this is a logical step with the bars.
“The market for the type of beers we sell is more developed abroad.”
The first bar in this latest expansion drive is planned for Stockholm in mid-March, with a further opening planned in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in May.
A further 10 UK pubs could also be added to the chain this year, including three more in Scotland in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.
