Firm opening three new venues
The Urban Pub Company is opening three new outlets before the end of the year.
The Glasgow company is investing around £50,000 and creating 20 jobs as part of the expansion.
First up is The Fox and Ferret in Hamilton which opens this month and will be followed by The Dog and Duck in Cambuslang then the Rat and Parrot in Bishopbriggs.
The company is also looking to acquire more units in 2012.
A spokesman said: "Our aim is to open up a series of new outlets for these three new brands in provincial towns throughout Scotland's central belt where major pub operators do not presently have a presence.
"This roll-out represents significant investment and signifies our confidence that there is scope for major growth within parts of Scotland currently not being served an adequate quality food and drink offering at sensible prices.
"Given the market opportunities arising from the current economic climate, we are convinced that the time is now right for us to embark on this ambitious expansion programme."
Current pubs it owns include The Lincoln Inn, The Wise Monkey and 1901 while it also manages venues on behalf of other operators.
