Contract with Norwegian firm DNO International to provide engineering services for the Tawke field in Kurdistan
Wood Group subsidiary Wood Group PSN (WGPSN) has secured a new contract to support oil field expansion services for the Tawke field in Kurdistan, Iraq.
The value of the contract, with Norwegian oil firm DNO International, has not been disclosed.
It's the first contract WGPSN has secured in Iraq.
WGPSN is assigning 30 engineers to the contract, who will initially be based in Abu Dhabi and will travel to Kurdistan when required.
DNO, an Oslo-listed oil and gas exploration firm with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa, currently has stakes in 17 licences for exploration both onshore and offshore in the Kurdistan region, Yemen, Oman, the Tunisian Republic and the United Arab Emirates.
David Clark, WGPSN regional director for the Middle East, said: "The strategic importance of this contract is significant.
"Iraq is an oil and gas region of enormous potential growth, especially for Wood Group PSN because of the extensive number of brownfield facilities.
"We are excited about the opportunity to work with DNO and help deliver projects to enhance production."
WGPSN now employs more than 3,300 people across the Middle East.
