Enterprising youths in awards joy

Some of Scotland's young entrepreneurial talent was recognised at the Prince's ScottishYouth Business Trust (PSYBT) Growth Fund Awards.

Stephen Pearson, 26, founder of Geckotech Solutions in Edinburgh, was joint winner of the Business Growth category.

The company provides industrial rope access and support services to the building industry.

Sharing the podium for the award were Ross Cowan, 28, and Stephen Spence, 27, owners of Lomond Property in Ayr.

The estate agency and lettings business has plans to move into cleaning, property clearance, furnishings and buy to let.

David Hamilton, 25, and 27-yearold Barry Petrie, 27, founders of Tayside mobile phone gaming company Digital Goldfish, were given the Determination to Succeed gong.

The innovation nod went to Philip Ross, 25, and Martin Izod, 26, for the Safehinge product which eliminates the gap between doors and was developed to stop children trapping fingers.

Psybt also announced the launch of a new innovation fund to sit alongside its established growth fund.
