Children 1st aid record

in association with Henderson

Three cheers to the Scottish business community. Despite challenging economic conditions, a record amount was raised for a children's charity.

The Microsoft Scotland annual quiz, staged at Celtic Park in aid of Children 1st, beat last year's record of £50,000 by a walloping £10,000 to bring in £60,000.

Champions this time around was API Software, one of the sponsors going by the name API Masters. Coming in second place was a team from Microsoft Educaton, called Stevie Steers for Victory.

And there was a respectable third place for the press team, last year's winners.

Raymond O'Hare, director of Microsoft Scotland, says: "This fundraiser was the best yet, relying heavily on the generosity of many companies and people providing their services and time gratis, which is fairly difficult in these testing times of the credit crunch.

"Yet we raised record funds for Children 1st, a great achievement."
