STV staff back Stephen in Scots food campaign

We know STV is trying to get back to its roots as a Scottish broadcaster but this week it took patriotism a step further.

Staff tried to eat only Scottish produce for awhole week in support of Stephen Jardine.

Jardine started his Eating for Scotland campaign on Burns Night with a pledge to keep going until St Andrew's Day.

So in a show of solidarity around 300 staff joined in the campaign with support from Scottish food producers.

The Stoats Porridge Oats van visited the broadcasters Pacific Quay headquarters in Glasgow while Arbroath Smokie promoter Iain R. Spink dropped in with some award winning produce.

Other companies involved include Allied Bakeries, Highlander Snacks, Simon Howie Butchers, Macsween haggis, AG Barr, Tunnocks, Lees and Inverhouse Distillers.

Jardine said: "I'm thrilled that my colleagues are getting behind the campaign and showing their support.

"The key for me is that this initiative is good for you as you're eating fresh, local produce, it's supportive of the Scottish economy, and it helps reduce wasteful food air miles. I'd encourage everyone to try it."
