Action man and a wheelchair

The charity challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to get to the top of Ben Nevis. So far, so humdrum. But this time it's in a wheelchair.

Ten teams of six including a disabled person in a wheelchair are being recruited by Burness and ex-SAS action man Ken Hames to climb Britain's highest mountain.

Luckily for the teams involved, Hames knows a thing or two about difficult ter-rain and disability. He led a team of trekkers with various disabilities across Nicaragua, filmed for BBC2 in a series of documentaries entitled 'Beyond Boundaries'. They faced drug-running bandits, dangerous snakes and Central America's most difficult live volcano.

Ben Nevis should be a doddle. The Ben Nevis challenge will take place on May 31.

On Valentine's Day, Burness, which has already put together its team, will host an information evening in its Glasgow offices (Aurora building, Both-well St, 4pm to 6pm). Hames will be presenting on everything you need to know about the event, including information about training, equipment and top fundraising tips. Teams will also have to raise funds to meet the £100,000 tar-get for disability charities in the UK. Call Ann Ward for more info on 0131 347 1049 or ann.ward@capability-scot-land.org.uk
