Glasgow hotel takes Employer of the Year title at National Business Awards
A Scottish hotel has been named Employer of the Year at the UK-wide National Business Awards.
The Glasgow Marriott Hotel lifted the prestigious award at the event – supported by Orange – in London in front of 1,200 of Britain’s top business leaders.
Judges said that “in the midst of the most difficult economic times since the 1930s, the hotel had risen to the challenge of driving the economy forward.”
The 301 bedroom city centre hotel incorporates two restaurants, leisure club and extensive banqueting facilities for 600 guests.
Tricia Rainey, managing director, said: “Recognising that only the best talent will deliver the best standards of guest service is the platform upon which this hotel recruits, develops and rewards its associates - offering them a wide range of career development and performance recognition opportunities.
“This is fantastic recognition of us being a great employer. It is such an honour. We were up against tough opposition, and really shone through.”
Philip Forrest, chairman of the National Business Awards judging panel added: “Recruiting young people from disadvantaged areas of Glasgow, and investing in latent talent - this renowned hotelier not only achieved great performance but higher levels of employee loyalty.”
