A gala dinner to celebrate excellence in Scotland’s sportsmen, women and teams for their outstanding achievements across the sporting spectrum in 2008.

The Sunday Mail Sports Awards celebrates excellence in Scotland's sportsmen, women and team for their outstanding achievements across the sporting spectrum in 2008. The awards are designed to be all encompassing, rewarding competitors from all sporting disciplines rather than simply focus only on the main professional sports. We are also looking to reward those volunteers and officials without whom many sports would not be so successful.

We ask the Sunday Mails 1.4 million readers to nominate their sporting heroes.

The evening commences with a drinks reception followed by a 3-course meal. The awards are split with various forms of entertainment including a team quiz with all tables competing against one another to pick up the star prize.
