Students looking to carve a career in hospitality and catering need to get out of the classroom, a new survey has claimed.
Delegates at the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland Emerging Talent Conference found no-one who thought education alone would impress a potential boss.
However, 83 per cent said a mix of education and experience was the most important thing to employers.
David Cochrane, of HIT Scotland, said: "Education is significant, but everyone seemed to agree that a diploma or degree alone is not enough for employers. Some sort of practical experience is necessary."
