Lynnhurst stands out in class and high-quality food
First impressions are everything. When you arrive at the Lynnhurst, it is easy to see the effort that has been put into restoring this Victorian hotel in deepest, darkest Renfrewshire into a shining light of sheer class.
Making your way up to the entrance a member of staff warmly greets us in a grand hallway, before being led to a very cosy and intimate bar lounge.
It is clear to see money was no object when restoring the Lynnhurst to its former glory. We particularly liked the hitech, wall-mounted television that turns into a mirror at the touch of a button.
Moving through into the plush dining room there is a change of atmosphere.
Original fixtures have superseded the modern touches featured elsewhere in the hotel; hardwood floorings and dark wooden-clad walls help give a stately feel to the restaurant.
And last, but by no means least, the food. For starters we ordered seared beef and rocket salad and carved melon.
The ample portion of beef was cooked just right to complement the perfectly-seasoned rocket salad.
The melon arrived beautifully presented while a helping of seasonal berries added some zing to the fruity dish. Enjoying the surprisingly intimate table in the grand, echoing dining room, our main courses of duck and the supreme chicken arrived promptly.
The pink and tender duck melted in the mouth and worked well with the orange sauce. The vegetables were excellent but the quality left you wanting more than what was served up. The tender supreme chicken did not disappoint.
A rich chorizo and spring onion risotto helped to give the simple dish a different twist.
We stumbled over the finishing line by enjoying delicious portions of homemade ice-cream that rounded off a wonderful dinner in stunning surroundings.
The multi-million pound renovation will surely pay dividends for an enthusiastic staff determined to make the old lady of the Lynnhurst into a beautiful princess.
When we visited, the menu in the restaurant was extremely limited. However, after being shown the proposed expanded menu, I am confident anyone visiting in the future will be kept happy.
A lot of effort has been put in to making the Lynnhurst stand out from the crowd with excellent presentation in the decor and fittings.
Thankfully the food offering also stands up to close scrutiny.
